FAQ

Who Is Cook And Nurture For?

Cook And Nurture is specifically designed for older Australians living at home who want to maintain their independence without compromising on the quality of their meals. Our service time includes not only food preparation but also time for connection and conversation, ensuring a holistic experience for our clients.

How much space do you need in my kitchen?

We are very adaptable! As long as there is a clear section of bench space for plating and a working oven/stovetop for light warming, I can make it work. I aim to be a "ghost in the kitchen" - taking up as little room as possible so you can enjoy going about your day.

What extra items do I need to provide?
You will be notified in advance of anything specific that will be required for your cooking session. Generally, you need to provide an oven for baked dishes & a stovetop for Soups & Stews. Occasionally, items like baking paper, cake tins, or specific supplies realting to your meal choices might be requested, although cooks often carry these in their "Go Bag" of Essentials.

Do I need to be home while you cook? Most of our clients enjoy a chat while I cook, but it is not required! As long as I have access to the kitchen, I am happy to work independently while you relax in another room or run errands.

How are the meals stored? All meals are packaged in high-quality, refrigerator-safe containers (either yours or provided by us) with clear, large-print reheating instructions and "Use By" dates. Important Note: Please remove the lid before heating in the oven or microwave, as the lids are designed for sealing freshness, not high-heat cooking.

Are the containers safe for my health? Yes! Unlike some plastic containers, our plant-fibre trays are BPA-free and PFAS-free. This means no nasty chemicals will leach into your food when heated, keeping your meals as healthy as the day they were cooked.

Are the containers environment friendly? Yes! We only source our food containers from Supplier who embrace sustainability, using rapidly renewable, plant-based materials designed for the circular economy.

Can you cater to specific dietary needs?

Absolutely. Whether it’s gluten-free, vegetarian, or "no-crusts-allowed," I can adjust the menu. Please let me know of any change in allergies or preferences at least 3 days in advance so I can source the right ingredients.

What if I have trouble swallowing certain foods? All of our "Heritage Comfort" and "Soup" items can be prepared with a "Soft-Texture" or "Puree" modification. Please simply tick the "Texture Modification" box as a dietary requirement on your booking form.

Do you cater for get-together's & parties? Yes! Bring back the joy of hosting without any of the heavy lifting. I offer a specialized High Tea and Party Service designed specifically for senior Australians who wish to gather their friends for a classic social hour. Whether it’s a milestone birthday or a simple "just because" catch-up, I bring the tradition of a beautifully set tea service right to your home. Read more.

Can I give this service as a gift?

Yes! It's the perfect gesture for parents, grandparents, or loved ones. Sometimes the best gift isn’t an object, but a feeling—the feeling of a stocked fridge, a clean kitchen, and a friendly conversation over a tray of freshly baked treats.

How to Order: Simply choose your package or a set dollar amount and email orders@cookandnurture.com.au. You will receive a booking form via return email. We can provide a beautiful physical certificate or a digital version sent directly to you or your recipient.
